Year 7 and 8 students attended the Sydney Writers’ Festival today to listen to 3 different authors writing in 3 different Young Adult genres.

Amy Doak spoke about her crime fiction writing, Josh Silver spoke about mental health in his books and Alexandra Moody spoke about her romance novels.

Students found out about the creative and publishing process and had an opportunity to ask questions in a plenary session. #sydneywritersfestival #olmcburraneer

Monday’s Empower Lunch was all about Medicine and pathways to medicine and allied health careers. We were very fortunate to have Ruby, a student ambassador from UOW who is a graduate of the medical science degree, and now undertaking a PhD in medical research explain the process of entering post-graduate medicine. She clearly articulated the different pathways students can undertake and the differences between the medical science and pre-med degree at UOW. She also explained the different post-graduate pathways students can then move into. #UOW #premed #medicalscience #empowerlunches #olmcburraneer

What a fantastic Empower Lunch we had this week. Charlotte Morson shared her experiences of working in Law, and the pathway she took to becoming a Lawyer. Her explanation of the university pathways, different career options within law, and what working as a Lawyer is all about was illuminating, encouraging and inspirational.

Our Empower lunches are a great opportunity for students from all year groups to hear first hand what a particular career is all about, from someone working or studying in the field. It is an informal, relaxed setting and students have the opportunity to ask questions about the occupation and pathways. #empoweringwomen #empowerlunches #olmcburraneer

OLM Wednesday afternoon learning sessions have been hugely successful this year, with a strong number of students attending each week. Over the past three weeks, specialised Mathematics, Science and English teachers have been available to support students. In addition, our 2025 Year 12 HSC High Achievers have been assisting, particularly with Year 11 and 12 students as they prepare for their HSC. #afternoonlearning #olmcburraneer
