Last night OLM Year 7 debaters defeated Aquinas and OLM Year 8 defeated Marist Brothers, Kogarah in Semi Final Eliminations.
Topic: Young people should have a greater say in their future.
Both OLM teams argued insightfully against the statement!
Good luck to both teams who will now compete in the SCS Debating - Regional Final (Sutherland Shire and St George).

An incredible #WorldOceansDay celebration with our Year 10 Red Earth students on our most extraordinary natural wonder, the Great Barrier Reef! 🪸

We were treated to a warm welcome from countless green sea turtles and the resident humphead Māori wrasse Frank, creating unforgettable encounters with some of the reef’s most iconic marine life.

Students had the privilege of spending time with the Indigenous Cultural Guides, learning how thousands of years of cultural knowledge and custodianship continue to guide the care of Sea Country. In the spirit of National Reconciliation Week, these conversations provided a meaningful opportunity to listen, learn and deepen understanding of First Nations perspectives. We gained valuable insight into how traditional management practices are being partnered with contemporary conservation and science to protect this remarkable ecosystem.

Experiences like these build connection, understanding and responsibility: empowering young people to become future custodians of our oceans and ensuring the magic of the reef is preserved for generations to come.

A huge thank you to @Dreamtimecairns team for an unforgettable day of learning, connection and inspiration. 💙🐠🐢

We’re looking forward to taking you on more of our Red Earth Immersion.

Rethinking Tech in Year 7

New research suggests technology may hurt learning more than it helps.

A 2025 study published in International Journal of Research and Innovation in Social Science. also showed that students feel social media distracts them and harms their academic performance.

At OLM, this evidence supports our decision to begin Year 7 with no laptops.

By reducing digital distractions, we’re helping students build stronger foundations in focus, deep learning, and real world connection.

Less tech. More learning.

A stronger start for Year 7.
